HVAC/R Junior Technician

New York, NY

The HVAC  Junior Technician is responsible for utilizing knowledge of the refrigeration theory, electrical schematics, pneumatic and electronic control systems, pipe fitting, welding and brazing and mechanical layouts in order to perform installs, repairs and maintenance to a variety of equipment including but not limited to: refrigeration, air conditioning, heating units, heat pumps, light commercial furnaces, boilers, burners, intake and exhaust fans, economizers, humidifiers, capacity controls, split systems, air compressors, air driers, and packaged units.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for servicing products and equipment on assigned projects and ensuring customer satisfaction

  • Performs repairs, overhauls, and start-ups of commercial HVAC systems

  • Uses a variety of hand tools and follows blueprints and engineering specifications to diagnose and repair units

  • Identifies, analyzes, diagnoses, and repairs systems and products at clients’ location

  • Performs preventative maintenance, site surveys, replacements, and modifications as needed or requested by customers

  • Prepares for on-site installation and repairs by examining building layout, anticipating difficulties, gathering materials and coordinating on-site work, as necessary

  • Maintains company vehicle by keeping records of service manuals, scheduling, and completing repairs and maintenance service

  • Documents work by completing paperwork on each job and maintaining files

  • Represents company by serving as a direct customer contact

  • Determines parts to order for repairs and timeliness of need

  • Keeps current on all manufacturer products concerning installation, operation, maintenance, service, and repair

  • Responsible for time management of jobs scheduled each day

  • Check in with client at the beginning and end of each task

  • Obtain client signature on company provided forms where applicable.

  • Check in as needed to ensure office and/or field supervisor are aware of your status

  • Secure parts and tools needed throughout the day for various jobs as required

  • Coordinates with field supervisor or office in times of uncertainty

 

Requirements:

  • Must have EPA Certification, OSHA 10, F-60 and G-60

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent GED certificate

  • Must have technical school training

  • Must have 2 - 4 years minimum of trade-related work experience

  • Must have a valid Driver's License with no major traffic violations, suspensions or DUI's in the previous 5 years

  • Must have the flexibility to work overtime/overnight/weekends as required

  • Must be a self-starter and team player

  • Must possess excellent time management, organizational skills as well as written & oral communications skills

  • Must have the ability to juggle multiple tasks

  • Must be able to deal with difficult personalities

  • Good hygiene and cleanliness is required at all times

  • Maintain a clean vehicle and make office aware of maintenance issues

  • Must be able follow rules and regulations as described in the provided Employee Policy Manual

  • A positive attitude is a must!

HVAC Field Technician
